The question that you should be asking is 
 1/ Roughly how much would a TGV / Speedrail train plus all the hi
speed track required plus all the land acquisitions cost.

I find it amusing that all the discussion re a VFT in Australia v/s
overseas VFTS , conveniently forget the fact that ALL the overseas
VFTS are Govt owned , whereas the Australian VFT is expected to be
wholly privately owned.
Makes a huge differance to the final economics of the project.
