How come there's been no significant stuff-ups or delays so far with the
Olympic trains? Has SOCOG recruited navigators to ride with the drivers to
watch out for red signals?
>From today's Column 8 in the Sydney Morning Herald:
"A jam-packed city-bound North Shore train pulled into Wollstonecraft
station the other night. Naomi Crayson, of St Ives, swears the guard
announced: Everybody hold your breath. Those with bad breath go and stand by
the windows. And, she swears, you could smell the breath-fresheners that so
many people pulled out and used.
At Town Hall station, Glenn Whitfield, of Riverwood, was impressed by the
giant TV screen showing Channel 9. It even had a commercial for State Rail,
telling passengers We will get you there. "Within seconds of the ad coming
on," he says, "there was a announcement on the PA that the next train was
running eight minutes late."
