Re: Fast train, some details(Vic)

After hours of reading the report i found the report deliberly mention the
lower time target cost for all 4 lines. The lower time target are the
suggested running time for all 4 routes that would get the train from
Melbourne to:

Ballarat in 55 minutes (would cost 390m$).
Bendigo in 60 minutes (Would cost 670m$+).
Geelong in 45 minutes (would cost 90m$)
Traralgon in 60 minutes (Would cost 600m$+)

This project will be speding 810m$ out of the long term project 1750m$

Geelong line will be using cuurent loco haul rolling stock with upgrade to
cater 130kph running. This is probabily because the larger population and
ridership on this line. Thi probabily referes to N class loco and N class
carriages and maybe A class loco. What are require to upgrade a 115kph
carriages and locos? I would say the bogies, breakes maybe signal system.

This upgrade to the current rolling stock would probabily make current
rolling stock runs between Traralgon/Bendigo/Ballarat/Geelong and Melbourne
allow at higher speed, which would reduce the running time for
Northerner/Gippslander/ and the proposal Vinelander.

Would the funding includes upgrade WCR's B, S class and R711 to a higher
speed??(probabily not)

Cheers
