Yeah, in fact about the same as now, when the average fare evader sits on
the tram with an unvalidated ticket in their pocket, and slips it into the
validator when they see the inspectors get on.

IMHO, conductors for regular services are an all or nothing proposition.
Otherwise, just put them on footy and tennis specials when the ticket
machines can't cope with demand and you've got a large proportion of
tourists.

And fix the machines to sell Dailies, pronto. It can't be that hard can it?
Can't they just build more small station machines and put them in the trams?
