Hi
I've been reading an old 'Railway Transportation' article by the SAR
commissioner in 1971 where he's referring to the decline in use of SAR
freight services and he refers to tonnages of 'manures' carried. Is
this a term covering fertilisers like superphosphate ?
The article has proved quite accurate in recent years- he theorises
that the rural SA network would be largely closed due to lack of use,
except for a few grain services.
