Bust this is not the case. The developers[1] want to move the railway out
of the city. As Rod pointed out, pensioners can't afford this change. Roads
are discriminatory, railways are not. Anyone can catch a train, but not
everyone can drive. So how dare these bastards try and justify routing a
"BYPASS" road right through the middle of the city, and move the railway,
that's of beneficial use to the towns people out of the city?
What importance does a road bypass have anyway? All interstate freight
would be better off on the rails, both logisticaly and environmentally. I'm
sure people travelling interstate by car (why??) can handle a little extra
travel time, I've travelled by car to/from Sydney and NSW many times before
and I don't see the slightly extra travel time in Albury/Wodonga annoying,
in fact, it breaks the monotony of a really long drive, if you are a driver
or a passenger (as I have been these times).
I'm sure half these developers have pulled brains out of their arse and use
that as a justification to be arseholes.
I'd be interested to see if there are any lobby groups who would be willing
to stand against this...

[1] Developers are a pimple on the arse of progress, seemingly. Look what
happened to a house of historical significance in Brighton a week ago.
