Alamein line problem?

Does anybody know what was wrong with the 1734 down Alamein tonight? It left
Flinders St. a few minutes late and proceeded OK as far as Riversdale where
it remained for the best part of 15 minutes. Then it made it as far as
Hartwell where it stopped for nearly 5 minutes before proceeding (almost) to
Burwood where it stopped at the signal just before the platform. Looks like
the problem might have been signal related but there were no train
anouncements at any stage.
