And hopefully Mildura and Dimboola(possibly via North Shore)
Loco haul trains are still very useful. Flexibility with the carriages
and even motorail option.

Those 58 DMUS will mostly likely do medium distance
service(Ballarat/Geelong/Traralgon/Bendigo/Seymore) therefore they are
most likely to be without first class/buffet.

V/line would most likely to have these DMUs desgined as
commuter/interurban and medium trains as DMUs will be able to
accelerate faster then loco haul service. Idea for Bacchus
Marsh/Kyneton/Seymore/Warragul and Geelong runs. Hmmm what about
Redhens?? (stick with Bayside perhaps)

Can N class haul freight trains?? as most of the N class hang around
yard at night doing nothing.

How about a 2-2car sets and split at Sherpparton, one set goes to
Tocuma/Cobram and the other head for Echuca??

Funnyhow there is a study carried out to look into feasibility of
regauge Seymore-Albury line. If DMUs going to take over this service
DMUs would have to be regauge, whereas loco hauls continue to serve
then N sets and N class locos have to be regaugeable.
