Birthday Celebrations for GSPE
It's the first birthday of operations for our luxury train the Great
South Pacific Express. There is further cause to celebrate with the
GSPE recently selected as one of the four Australian "tourism icons" to
be promoted overseas, by the Australian Tourism Commission.
At the same time, Heritage Train Company General Manager, Bruce White,
said about 80 per cent of first year passengers were from overseas with
numbers, coming from Japan and the United States, exceeding
expectations.

The GSPE is operated by the Heritage Train Company – a joint venture
established between QR and Venice Simplon Orient Express. QR is also
proud to have been involved in the building of the luxury train. The
GSPE was carefully crafted at QR's Townsville Workshops.
