This Sydney Central was (I think) used for several reasons:

* To identify it as being Sydney's main station for travellers etc
* Let's face it, it is in the same block of land.
* Staff were combined (in theory) from the two former locations to one
although you mainly see staff statying at the same location/area that they
did previously.

IIRC, the name was canned because (stated reason here) of a nearby shopping
centre called Sydney Central. DVA/SPI wise, ity is simply a programming
matter to have any location used/deleted/altered IIRC.
