Re: permission

As a former SRA signalling engineer and now with Westinghouse Signals, for
me to
wander around the tracks I needed firstly the RAC Track Awareness
Certificate
(I lost my PW11 when I became a contractor) which basically tells you what
Up,
Down, 6 foot and cess means and secondly the appropriate Personal Protection
Equipment ie vest, boots etc. If you want to wander around south of
Waterfall
then the IWMP (Fluor) require the aforementioned PPE as well as a hard hat,
safety
goggles, long sleeve shirt and long trousers. If you want to have a peek
into
the signal equipment locations, relay rooms etc then you'll need to have
done
the
'Access to RAC Signal Equipment Locations' course at the Signal training
school
at Belmore. That will give you a Falcon 8 key (the type that sig elecs use)
but
you
cannot disturb signalling equipment that's in use. And to wander around in
electrified areas you need to attend an additional course on HV traction
which
states the
bleeding obvious like don't carry long metal objects above your head. Anyway
that's for NSW. For QLD I needed to obtain their 'Yellow Card' which allows
me
access to their tracks.
