Railways don't have to operate trains:-)

Having just read latest Railway Gazette may edition:

Most of the Japanese private railways usually have many ways of making
extra profit from none-railway assest, some companies operate national
coach lines, some operates Travel centers, banks, department stores
stadiums and theme parks and even rolling stock manufactoring.JR group
is not excluding from this, as most JR companies owns hotels.

JR Hokkaido recently seeking a lot of ways of making extra cash by
owning an ostrich farm on Hokkaido island!! the farm will supply
Ostrich meat to markets as well as tourist.

Come to think of it, National express also owns lots of major coach
routes in UK and an airport in USA. Qantas joined Speedrail consortum.

How long would it take for QR to build Disney World next to Nerang
station(Plenty of land), or Cityrail to buy Luna park at North Sydney,
Yarra trams to buy Paramont Studio at dockland.
National rail to reopen the meat work at Bromelton??
