It was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald on Friday. (though doesn't
appear in their internet edition). Happened in the sidings at Cronulla last
Thursday when one train, having disgorged its passengers at the platform
around 7.15 pm, backed into another already parked in the siding. This was
mentioned in this ng under siding collision heading. There's a brief mention
of the accident at www.abc.net.au/news/state/nsw/archive

One would think that CityRail might learn from their mistakes - when much of
an 8 car set and Waterfall station were demolished in similar circumstances
a few years back, it would be wiser than reversing blind for the driver to
take a walk down to the rear cab so he/she could see where it was going. In
the absence of mirrors and only having vision along one side of the train,
it might take an extra couple of minutes for the reversing procedure, but
would be a darned sight safer and less expensive.
