Many thanks for the very informative info on this issue guys.
It all makes some sense now anyway.

One question I left out ,is how is the dual guage section between Nth Geelong 
C and Gheringhap worked for BG trains.
Do all BG trains that cross this section have to carry ASW gear and if so is 
this the only remaining ASW section for BG trains in VIC.?
Does the Nth Geelong signaller have to get a release from ARTC to clear BG 
signals which admit BG trains to the dual guage track.?
Since Gheringhap now has no signaller,and it seems very few signals whan I was 
there last ,is there any sort of home signal or catch points on the BG to 
prevent a Geelong bound BG train running onto the dual guage tracks ,or are we 
totally relying on the authorities .
