CityRail and Olympic Park

Have had to visit Olympic Park twice in the last fortnight.

First occasion was a record attendance day at the Easter Show. Then today
for the opening ceremony of the Pacific School Games.

CityRail got it right on both occasions. Trains were operating smoothly and
passengers moved efficiently. Today could have been a nightmare, as there
were dozens of school groups typically with one adult supervisor for every
30 children, along with tens of thousands of family and friends. All had to
be seated by 10:00 am for a 10:30 am commencement. The rail component of the
public transport mode worked smoothly, clear instruction were given for the
management of the many young people, and no hassles were evident!

The ceremony started late! Why, you may ask. School parties and performers
for the ceremony travelling by road coach had been delayed by a major road
accident.
