It would if market carefully. Brisbane->Sydney have similar bad timing
and it is still going strong:-)

A package tour for both capital would still be able to attract
passengers.

I really think they should consider through carriages with Indain
Pacific. There are quite a few people fly to Adelaide to join the
train. why not take the train all the way from Melbourne to Perth?
