It seems that the disasters afflicting rail op's in NSW seem to have
begun since the old NSWGR was turned into alphabet soup, e.g Rail
AccessCorp, Rail Services, Freightrail etc.
Little of this crap seemed to occur when I was a signalman and later
Relief ASM. Then the Commissioner had a daily meeting with the Chief
Traffic Manager, and the various engineers:
Mechanical, Electrical, Signal, Civil, and sorted out the previous day's
problems.
It's worth speculating on the fact that the NSWGR operated from 1926 to
1948 without a single passenger fatality, right thru WW II and remember
how many more pass trains ran then!
