For the same reasons that have been given here time and time again.

Binaries expire fairly quickly - my ISP expires them in 48 hours, other
(major) ISP's in even less time.

Posting a picture into the binaries group means that it travels the world to
all news servers that carry the group, and generates traffic into those
ISP's, even when people have no wish to see that particular pic.

Free webspace is available, and is quite easy to use. It is much better to
upload y0our pic to one of those free sites, and then post the address into
this group (aus.rail) - it will last much longer (in excess of 6 months in
the case of my ISP), the size of the post will be extremely small compared
with the post if the pic was attached (thus reducing the amount of traffic
around the world), only people who actually want to see the pic will get to
see it, and you can also gain some stats about who, where, when and how many
people accessed the pic.

There are frequent discussions in aus.net.news and alt.config over the need
(or lack of it) for binaries newsgroups, and it all centres on the ready
accessibility of free web space. The consensus seems to be that binaries
newsgroups are a phenomena whos day has passed.

Pass - put thm on a webpage and give us the address - much easier.
