[VIC] Broadmeadows Upgrade

Hi all,
I went down to Essendon today (Saturday) to check out the trains
using platform 1, due to the Broadmeadows Trackwork. There was also some
work going on at the bridge over Mt. Alexander road at the North end of the
station. It seems they were doing something to the area where the third
track used to be (the eastern side).

Due to the way trains are timetabled, most sparks usually cross each
other at Essendon, so this meant that trains arriving at ESD went into PL3
and dropped off all the passengers, then the train in PL1 would depart.
Due to the works at the northern end of the station, the train in PL3
then had to go back toward the city to change over to the PL1 road, which is
requires the driver to change ends twice instead of once if they were able
to use the northern end.
Basically ALL trains departed from Platform 1, that is why they had
painted the lines and filled the potholes previously, as it was being well
used, also, it is right next to the bus bays so it allows for a quicker
transfer to the train.
