The company I work for has had several JR employees on exchange from Japan.
They were sent to Australia to learn how the Australian freight industry
works and how Australian Railways run.

One thing they were surprised about was how the track was owned by someone
else and many operators were allowed to use it - competition doesn't exist in
Japan!

I will have to find out what they're up to!!
