Nowadays, Control generally gives the IP a slow run through Sydney. The
reason for this is because the brake examination at Lithgow has been
discontinued, and this time has not been removed from the timetable i.e. you
can lose 30 minutes running through Sydney/Blue Mountains and still arrive
at Lithgow station ontime.

Control won't let the IP jump out of Lithgow early, as the train has to wait
for the UP XPT to clear the single line at Wallarawang.
