In Belgium and The Netherlands they are going to extend the
Paris to Brussels TGV line to Amsterdam. What is currently a 4
hour trip from Amsderdam to Paris will be even shorter. The
problem is that you can't get on a TVG here if you tried, unless
you book months in advance. We tried two weeks ago to book for
next weekend and told that it was booked out. Australia is
better served with airlines on the Sydney to Melbourne route so
I wonder if a TVG would be as heavily used as they are here. A 1
hour flight, 3 1/2 hours by road, from Eindhoven, NL to Paris
would have cost us about $A1500.00. There is a $A19 toll charge,
each way, on the freeway from the Belgium border to just outside
of Paris. Is isn't going to be hard to be back home in Sydney in
September, even with the Olympics. The cost of travel in
Australia is far cheaper than Europe.
