If you are referring to me, then I'm telling you now - the times I
quoted ARE ACCURATE, and Metrol and Hillside running logs will be able
to confirm it (assuming they keep logs). In the reply you posted
initially, you mentioned that things were OK at 4.32pm (which is
probably accurate), however you never mentioned that you were there at
3pm.

Following is a quote from your first reply:

Also, in a previous message, you mentioned that I should try driving
to/from work - I did that for many years, and have no intention of doing
so again for several reasons. I have been travelling by train on an
almost daily basis for nearly 30 years (except for a 5 year period where
I had to drive to/from work due to lack of rail services at the times I
started or finished work). I have also travelled extensively by train
around most of Aust, probably more than most non-rail-personel in this
newsgroup.

How often do YOU travel by train, how extensively, and for how many
years?

It is quite normal for me to travel by train & bus at different times of
the day, both peak period AND off-peak. As such, I get to see more of
the problems than most travellers who only catch particular trains (or
during a limited time period) DON'T get to see.

I work in a profession which requires that I write reports which are
100% accurate - mistakes can be quite expensive, and any messages I post
here are also entered as accurately as possible.

If other people or rail operators have problems with my criticisms, then
it is not because they are inaccurate. If I was just blowing off steam,
I would be posting a lot more messages. As it is, my message the other
day was entered several hours after the event, after I'd had time to
"cool off".

For the record, I know of AT LEAST 6 trains in the last 7 days (as of
Friday evening) which were running more that 10 mins late, with at least
4 of them running 20 mins or more late!

I've already seen the message about last night's problems. I was lucky
enough to be given a ride to Box Hill, so missed the worst of it.
However while I was at B.H. station, there were no announcements as to
why the trains were running 20 mins late (the 19:20 Box Hill to Lilydale
departed at approx. 19:40). But of course, I still ended up missing the
connection to the LAST bus for the night...... third time this week.

Mick.

p.s. I'm currently drafting a letter to Hillside on several matters,
including the recent rash of late running and lack of information being
given to passengers. I'll be very interested in what they have to
say....

p.s. I'm not blaming Hillside for ALL the problems, but they do have a
service charter to adhere to, and they should at least keep people
informed on the reasons for delays. I'd rather have to wait an extra 20
mins for a late train if I know WHY it is late (or why they play
"musical platforms" at FSS), rather than being kept in the dark, which
is USUALLY the case. Even just a simple "delay caused by {whatever}" is
better than nothing!
