Something that's bugged me for years.  Why does the double-arrowed logo, and all
its predecessors, indicate right-hand running rather than left hand running?

Also, isn't it similar to the RENFE (Spanish Railways) logo

- except theirs is LEFT hand running - which would be the wrong way around for
them!
