National Express behind the times...

Yarra Trams bet Swanston to the post with their refurbished trams a
couple of months ago, and now Hillside has beaten Bayside to release
their new train scheme.

It seems National Express (who own Bayside & Swanston) don't like
leading the way, and are instead happy to follow what others are
doing.

With the other two companies investing money in their rolling stock,
National are going to seem very outdated very quickly, and looking
through the press over the last few weeks/months they are not spending
money on getting their trains to run on time as well.

Is this the bad part of privisation? They are getting their profits
and not reinvesting in the company...after their franchise is finished
in 10 years (approx) who ever takes it over will have to pour a lot of
money into the system to get it up to date.

Any comments?
