As a purely luxury-oriented service, perhaps with a budget section
attached as with the Indian Pacific, IMO it's an excellent idea. Of
course in its wisdom State Rail sold all the Aurora cars in the bluster
about the XPTs being the grand future of interstate rail travel. An NR
on the front of a consist of IP cars doing the trip in 11-12 hours
sounds very attractive to me.
