However, like most other lines in the system, my depot (Waterfall) and
possible Cronulla depot as well, will most likely not be qualified for it.
We are *still* not qualified for Olympic Park, or Eveleigh (which replaced
PA sidings, and everyone was qualified for that to my knowledge), or the
goods lines, plus all the other places I mentioned in my posting from a few
months back...

If the NSW government is really serious about 'sectorising' CityRail so they
can Kennet-ise us and sell each segment of the system off to private
consortia, then they are certainly going about it the right way by
deliberately (or so it seems) limiting the lines over which crews from
various outer depots are qualified for. At least that takes care of the crew
qualification side of things, because if we in Sector 1 (the illawarra)
become a private operation, we're already all qualified for all the lines we
will run over (there's only one anyway, plus the Cronulla line), and all the
other lines will be out of the picture...

There is almost no effort being put into ensuring that *all* drivers and
guards in Sydney ETR depots are qualified for, and have regular (even if
infrequent) shifts that take them over every line in the system.

But given the problems of new staff being given inadequate training, then
qualifying everyone for every line would just be counter-productive, IMHO at
least.

Regards,

Craig.
