At a guess, Id say the 2'72 indicates what date that sign may have been built
or erected, for what useful information it brings who knows. But Id say it
stands for February 1972. I would have thought if it was the route number,
the numbers would be in bold print if anything. -- CityRail driver, and big
fan of HO and 5", 71/4" guage trains. My opinions are from myself and I do
not represent any company, person, animal, object.
