Re: Normanhurst Station

Opened on 27/11/1895 and initially named Hornsby, with (then and present-day)
Hornsby renamed Hornsby Junction. Renamed Normanhurst on 17/11/1898 after
prominent local identity Norman Selfe, and Hornsby Junction renamed Hornsby at
the same time. Since then there has been little change in its layout, although
its appearance would have been somewhat altered by electrification in the
1920's, and a major rebuild some time in the last 10-15 years. For further
information, refer a detailed series of articles on the history of the Short
North by CC Singleton in the ARHS Bulletin in 1965-66, and also local history
publications such as Pioneers of Hornsby Shire, edited by the Hornsby District
Historical Society.
