[NSW] Indicator Board - Wrong Destination

The 1800 Central - Lithgow service arrived at Platform 2, Parramatta
yesterday with the indicator board showing destination Richmond, stopping at
Westmead, 7 Hills, all to Richmond with the corresponding announcement being
made. The board and announcements were corrected but only after the train
had stopped and people had commenced boarding.

The train then ran non-stop Parramatta - Penrith, as tabled, although lost
about 10 minutes as a suburban preceded it, eventually arriving at Penrith
15 minutes late.

Needless to say many very pissed off passengers got off at Penrith in the
knowledge that they had to backtrack to at least Blacktown to get home.
These passengers had at least an extra hour (not to mention 40+km added to
their journey).

Are there any procedures in this sort of situation to mitigate the
inconvenience to passengers? The station staff, at least, must have
realised that many people had boarded the wrong train.

As it was the penny dropped for most of them by Doonside - early enough to
enjoy a pedestrian trip to Penrith and check out the Olympic baseball venue
en route.
