Trees and golf links spared

According to an article in today's Daily Telegraph, historic pine trees in
Parramatta Park will be protected from construction of the Parramatta
Chatswood rail link it was promised yesterday.
And Parramatta golf course will remain a nine-hole course during and after
construction.
Transport Minister Carl Scully and the Parramatta Rail Link Company gave
assurances about the imoact of the $1.4 project.
The nine hole golf course will only be marginally affected during
construction with the fifth tee moved 2m.
A sliver of land 4m wide by 150m long will be resumed permanently to allow
room (for) the new tunnel entrance.
Mr Sculley also guaranteed that hoop pines in Parramatta Park would not be
damaged in construction.
