Re: GST on city rail train Tickets

There are two acts that deal with this, the main GST Act and another act for
transitional issues such as tickets (like a contract) covering pre 1/7/00
and post 30/6/00.

GST will be payable by CityRail on the post 30/6/00 pricecomponent of the
ticket. So if you buy a Monday (26/6/00) to Sunday (2/7/00) weekly ticket,
GST will be payable on thecomponent of the price CityRail charges for the
last two days. The GST is 1/11th of the price charged for those two days.

The GST is payable by CityRail (at 1/11th of the price) regardless of
whether or not CityRail adjusts the ticket price, because the "price" is
always GST inclusive where GST is applied.
