Re: Concord West NSW

I sense imminent trouble.

The train that derailed was supposed to de-rust the track, but unfortunatly
it needs more than that. It needs replacement. From my observations, a train
going at 5 km/h on that line would be in for a rough ride. Sleepers and pins
need to be replaced.

As is the case with the up main after Epping. A speed limit has been there
for quite a while (i havent been there for a month, is it still there?)
while the old wooden sleepers rot and pins fall away. When I caught the
train regularly to my school at eastwood a year ago, the train I was on
would cross to the second up track and I would see piles of broken or
missing pins lying in the middle of the track at regular intervals.

Whats holding it together, sticky tape?

Brendan

p.s: I think the Telegraph will see this and write another "infrastructure
falling apart" article.
