Noted today that construction work on the St Albans to Sydenham electrification
has commenced. Significant earthworks have been done at the existing Sydenham
station to create a new 'siding' behind the existing down platform. The down
side car park has been closed and the earth base for the new track has been
graded and rolled for about 1km up to Melton Hwy. It looks like it will be 2
tracks wide at the end. I presume this will be a train stabling siding beyond
the site of the new Sydenham station.
