Vince O'Rourke retired as head of QR on Friday. He was well respected by
many with an interest in preserving QR heritage. QLD now has a large and
growing fleet of operational heritage locomotives and rolling stock due in
part to Vince's foresight. Vince has been a part of QR for many years and at
one time (I think) was a loco driver.
His replacement has a background in economics and accounting. I hope the
appointment of a "bean counter" does not have a negative effect on the fine
work that has been done for the QR Heritage fleet in recent years.
