Does anyone know why the overhead wiring for the Alamein line continues
past Alamein to a point just north of the Malvern Valley Golf Course?
Was this done back in the 40's when the line was extended from Ashburton
to Alamein, with the thought of continuing the line further or was the
wiring put up prior to the Ashburton - Alamein section was reopened when
the disused track was still in existance from the Outer Circle days?
If this is the case has a train ever reached the current end of the
overhead wiring using electric motive power?
