I'll add mine then. I spoke to the diesel driver who was sent out to rescue
the spark. He said that a brake cylinder had dropped off the bogie of the
offending unit which had caused the problem. It was mentioned that it was a
new cylinder (may not have been fitted properly etc etc). The posted photos
confirm that the brake cylinder had come off, whether it caused the
derailment or not is another question
