Yep. To see the derailment up close, you had to be on the tram track almost
(there is a 75cm "safety gap" with a broken yellow line, probably for
people who stray onto the track, like gunzels). Noticably, trams were going
slow past the derailment, either because a) gunzels, b) sightseeing, as
people normally do when they see a major accident on the side of a road.
The best view of the derailment (and probably the one appearing in the
Herald Sun, if it made it - there was a HS photographer there) was from the
old footbridge that goes over what was the Jolimont Rail Yards.
I will have some photos of this derailment tonight, though most being from
the same locations that Chris took them. (Print film /can/ come in handy,
sometimes).
