Why bother fitting "low speed controls" to T and H class units?? Um.....um,
um....all H classes are already fitted with a hump control device. As are
all second series X classes (X 37 to X 44) and certain Y class locomotives.
H classes have also (for a hell of a long time) been fitted with a
'quick-start' device improving the starting speeds for these locos at low
speeds in the lower notch range.
All A, C, G, N and 3rd series locos (X 45 to X 54) are fitted with a manual
power control device.
This makes about 97% of the fleet already equipped with variable power
control equipment.
