Yes ... I believe the NSUs were tested on the SG around Port Augusta. I
remember reading somewhere that they may have ventured out on the line to
Kalgoorlie, but as how far I'm not sure.
It would have been interesting to see an NSU on the 'Trans Australian' ...
A truly remarkable locomotive ... a different version of the car/cab unit!
Not the most attractive locomotive (say c.f. with a GM) they nevertheless
had a certain quaintness about them. One of my favorite CR locomotives.
