Michael House

Aus loco discussion mailing list

Dear All,

I met Michael House on just one occasion, less than two months ago. Michael
had made the pilgrimage to South Australia with his two boys (he also had a
young daughter) as a result of my Bulldog postings on Ausloco - a last
minute change of plan. Even before I met Michael, just the tone of his
e-mail messages gave you the feeling that here was somone who everyone got
on with.

We tried to catch up with Michael and his boys all week, but Michael was
always in hot pursuit of his beloved Bulldogs. Finally on his last night in
SA, Michael and the boys came around for tea and we had a good evening. The
boys and Liam played on the lounge room floor and Michael , Pat and myself
supping on a few ales and talking. Funny thing is I can't really remember
what we talked about that evening - definitely matters rail, but also about
our families and other areas of mutual interest. I wish I could remeber what
we did talk about - just goes to show that every minute in life is precious.

Michael death brings home the fact that we take so much for granted. He had
a passion for life, his family and his hobby that well seemed in excess of
his 33 years.

That the hobby has lost someone with so much youthful optimism and
enthusiasm is indeed tragic.

That such a young family has been left without a father is a much much
greater tragedy.

Our thoughts at this time should be with them.

Cheers

Mark
