Hi

I've found state archives useful for getting TGR plans. Not sure how useful 
that would be in other states. In the case of CR, I believe many of the 
plans were dumped on a tip by AN ! But for some modern AN and Tasrail plans, 
actually contacting the railway itself proved pretty beneficial. Can be a 
bit of a hit-and-miss game, depending on who picks up the phone. We 
modellers are pretty peripheral to their business, after all. Other 
modellers can be a good source of information.  There are some real experts 
out there, and some of them enjoy the recognition. In my time, I've been 
able to collect most of the plans of the narrow gauge AN and SAR through 
these sources.
