A few comments to this. The 48 class are restricted to 100kph (only NSW 100kph units) and would slow and trains to Victoria. Why wouldn't FC just use 82s or a 422 or 80 class as second unit? Also RSA own 4 44 class ,3 45s amd a 35 and 2 48s, no 442s. None of the 44/45/35s are supposed to be sold without being offered to preservation groups first (I've heard nothing about this yet). It may be possible that they are two of the four X's for the SG grain trains. G529 may be replacing X38 & X45 on the log trains so the X's can be transferred to work the grain trains. The rave train was to depart Spencer Street this morning at 06.00, again with the 422 leading. Last night the train was stabled at Spencer Street and the loco were fueled by a road tanker. If this trip was successful up to 16 more trips will be made. There was to be one more towards the end of this month but has been canceled. Also, has anyone heard about the RSA auction of some 44s & 442s.
