Aus loco discussion mailing list
Collision occurred between westbound 246 and eastbound 231. The coal train
was probably stationary on the Western main waiting for a cross with 231.
Locos involved were 2116 (ZA3) and 2113 (Z4) on 246 and 2001 plus two as yet
unidentified DQ on 231 (one was either 2004 or 2005, the other was from the
2006-2008 group).
Damage is unknown although Z4 seems to have escaped lightly as it was being
used to shunt the site on Tuesday. The locos were taken back to Western
Junction yard on Tuesday afternoon, and then very slowly back to East Tamar
on Wednesday afternoon.
Expect 2001 and 2116 to have sustained most damage.
2011 and 2012 have been very rapidly put into service as replacements.
