Re: FV news.

Looking at the traincrew rosters, the Sale running with Bairnsdale connection
starts today...Thursday the 4th of November 1999. The train was in Tottenham
Yard early this morning headed by T 400-T 371 with the traincrew rostered to
run to Sale, go to rest and return with a 1730 up. There was a light engine
movement to Sale yesterday running to similar times. There is still some work
to be done on the bridge before it will be able to take a loco. Im not sure
of the load for an RTL, however the train is still running around the 30
wagon mark, with wagons also being conveyed for Morwell and Warragul, so im
guessing only about 10 wagons per day will be going to Hillside.
Whilst running 9084 goods in the early hours of this morning from Tottenham
Yard to Appleton Dock I noted around the back of the DMS that 2 S class locos
(numbers not sighted) have been moved out of 1 diesel shops (storage) and
placed towards 11 d.s.
Someone mentioned that they have been started and are being prepared for a
return to service as I predicted last week. FV's loco shortage is only going
to get worse from now on.......hopefully a few S classes will ease the
pressure over the grain season.

30ACDW brake valve fitted, not especially for the APEX, more an evaluation of
the 'then somewhat modern' brake valve. Its basically similar in operation to
the 26L equipment used on all other G's.
