Is there any reason G543 (normally captive on the Apex) is off on the
grain.... or is it just a case of showing the flag? Isn't there a
whizzbang feature of G543 (its brakes?) that makes it desirable for
the quarry train?

I'm pleasantly surprised that the RTL can haul a log train. What's
its load (say compared to a Y or T or P)? I'd have thought FV might
walk a P or Y across the bridge at Stratford and thus run a real
loco from Stratford (is there still a loop there?) to Hillside and
back and just the RTL from Stratford to Sale.
Aaah, so many questions, so little time <g!>
Thanks for your most informative posts, Darren.
