As Kevin said

0 = light loco
8 = pass
9 = goods

1 =  Ballarat/Mildura Line
2 = Warrnambool
3 =  Albury line (BG)
4 = Sale/Bairnsdale
5 =  Stony Point
6 =  Albury line (SG)
7 =  Dimboola/Serviceton (ie western SG)

even number = up train (ie towards Flinders Street station)

Examples:

9756 (*AM3P) = Goods train, western SG, up train (ie Adl - Mel
Patricks train (actually not on krel's list)

8207 = Pass train, Warrnambool line, down train, ie away from
Melbourne (on Saturdays this is R711's train).
