Re: Echuca loco scene

Aus loco discussion mailing list
Greetings all,

Today (Sat) sees the usual layover from Fri. to Sunday of: G513 + X34 (usual loco classes to layover). However, an additional X class arrived last night on 9083 with the aforementioned two locos in the form of X46. Third series X class are rare visitors to Echuca on 9083 as they can't work over the Murray into NSW (practically) as there are no turning facilities on either route north of the river. It won't be long before X46 is sporting the FV green "paint-job" because it is in a very unpresentable condition.
At this point all of you should be aware that should FV have decided to paint their locos with SILVER BOGIES, then they could have boasted that they have a LIVERY. Unfortunately, for mine, black undergear on any loco only rates the category of a "paint job" (and indeed, always written in lower case to boot!)...
A third (1st series) X class did depart for the Moulamein line this morning at 0500 hrs as previously posted by me some days ago. Should be back in Echuca soon whence it will be shut down until late tomorrow evening with the other layabouts.
9084 ex Echuca to Melb tomorrow (dep 1900 -2000 hrs) should be a big train and a tripleheader (G + X + X) instead of the usual G + X.

Never take me seriously... Although Marinus van O. did recently when I chatted with him on the subject of "livery versus paintjob".

Cheers   AH
