Thought I had better keep the
masses informed of the totally predictable workings in and around the Echuca Vic
area.
9083 ex Melb to Deniliquin NSW
runs like clockwork these days. Arr Echuca 1900 hrs give or take 30min. Mon to
Fri. Hauled monotonously (no Alco's to brighten up the skies you see!!) by a G +
X combo.
X class stays for next days two
jobs north of the border into NSW i.e. to Moulamein and return a.m. and
Deniliquin and return p.m..The G returns within 90 mins to Melb on 9084 (dep Ech
2000 -2100hrs) taking with it the X class from that days workings. The
"fresh" X class off 9083 stays and the 24 hr cycle restarts next
morning. Simple Eh!!!
Exception to this is on
Fri.night when, on arrival Echuca, all are shut down until 1300 hrs Sunday when
the G class is lit up and works to Deniliquin and return Echuca
in time to commence the weekly cycle with a Sun dep for Melb as 9084 at the
usual 2000 - 2100 hrs. It follows the Sprinter pass service ex Echuca once it
clears Bendigo by and large..
These days, (read grain season)
a job is often worked up the Moulamein line by the X class on Sat a.m.. Usually
works to any point on the line and NOT always to the end of the
line at Moulamein. Dep Ech 0500 -0700 hrs & returns 1000 - 1400 hrs
depending on how far up the line it went.
Loco's?? X47 was regular
when freshly outshopped in green but not seen in the last two months.
"Dunny-equipped" X49 is never seen and G543 in green is never seen. G
classes visiting are usually the early numbers. Later series G classes are very
rare.
It is proposed that 9083 and
9084 will travel ex Melb. via Seymour and Toolamba to Echuca (i.e. not via
Bendigo as now) once the administration difficulties are overcome. Who pays who,
what rate etc. for the use of the line et al.
Someone may be interested
Cheers, Alan
