Re - the Freightcorp Syd-Melb service - is it SM4
or SM3 ? I saw this train near Exeter with 8170/8131 yesterday afternoon.
It seems to have become a "South mixed goods", as
it had a varied loading of Ampol oil tankers (for Wagga?), wheat wagons,
Manildra wagons and containers on the back. I'd be interested to know what
was left by the time it got to Melbourne - presumably only the
containers.
Some other observations from an afternoon off
-
Plenty of Down trains, most of them with 81's
! Didn't get the train numbers, as Danny was off duty.
1520 - 8162, I think this was 1327 Griffith (containers)
1640 - 8182, Down yo-yo
1725 - ST4 Up XPT, XP2000 leading
1733 - SM3 , 8170+8131
1743 - 8184, Down wheat
1746 - NR35+NR70, PS6
1818 - NR38 + DL41 - WQ3
1908 - 8238+8142, Down wheat
2010 - 3x NR , YN2 Up Steel
Missed the EL's , they must have run through after
I left.
If it's fine, the Down procession can be photographed in quite nice light near Bundanoon / Exeter until about 7.20pm at
present - weekdays are worth a try
from about 4pm onwards.
Cheers,
Paul
